Sterling Learn

Terms & Conditions

Sterling Learn — the online learning platform of Sterling College London. Effective 25 August 2026.

1. Who we are

Sterling Learn (“the Platform”, “we”, “us”) is the online learning service of Sterling College London (“the College”). These terms govern your use of the Platform and any purchase you make on it. Questions and notices: admin@sterlingcollegelondon.com. In-person study at the College is governed separately by the College's Terms & Conditions of Admissions.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate details and keep your password secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 18 to purchase. Learners under 18 may use an account only where a parent or legal guardian has created the account, made the purchase, and consents to the learner's use.

3. What you are buying

One-off courses include 12 months' access to the course from the date of purchase, as stated at checkout. Access ends when the period expires; you may purchase again to continue.

Subscriptions renew automatically each month or year until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your dashboard (“Manage or cancel”); cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and you keep access until then. Where we advertised a founding-member price lock at the time you subscribed, we honour it for as long as your subscription remains continuously active.

Certification courses delivered through Pearson are fulfilled by assigning you an official Pearson courseware licence, normally within 1 business day of purchase. The access period and courseware features follow the official Pearson licence terms. Certification exams are administered by the relevant certification body and, unless your purchase expressly includes an exam voucher, exam fees are separate.

Feature availability. Where a feature is advertised as upcoming (“coming”), the disclosure shown at checkout forms part of what you are buying. We do not charge for a feature as if it were live when it is not.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are shown in pounds sterling at checkout and processed securely by Stripe; we do not see or store your card details. Price changes never affect a period you have already paid for. If a pricing error is obvious and unmistakable, we may cancel the affected order and refund you in full.

5. Cancellation and refunds

Your 14-day cooling-off right. As a consumer buying online, you may cancel within 14 days of purchase without giving a reason.

One-off courses (digital content): if you have not begun streaming lessons, you receive a full refund. By starting a course within the 14-day period you request immediate access to digital content and acknowledge that this ends the statutory cancellation right; even so, if you have completed only an immaterial part of the course we will refund you in full as a matter of goodwill — we would rather refund than keep an unhappy student's money.

Subscriptions: cancel within 14 days of first subscribing for a full refund, less a proportionate charge for any period already used. After 14 days, cancel any time with effect from the period end.

Pearson-delivered certification courses: a full refund is available until your Pearson licence is assigned. Once assigned, the licence cost is committed to Pearson and the purchase becomes non-refundable, except where required by law or where we failed to deliver what was described.

To cancel, email admin@sterlingcollegelondon.com from your account email. Refunds are returned to the original payment method, normally within 14 days. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including rights where content is faulty or not as described.

6. AI-generated teaching — our transparency promise

Lesson videos are presented by AI-generated teachers, and the conversation tutor is an AI system; both are built on curricula designed and overseen by the College's real tutors, and we label them as AI throughout the Platform. AI systems can make mistakes. The AI tutor provides language practice only — it is not a source of professional, medical, legal or immigration advice, and conversations may be reviewed by College staff for safeguarding and quality purposes as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Using the Platform fairly

Your access is personal and non-transferable. You must not share accounts, download, re-record or redistribute course content, misuse the AI tutor (including attempts to generate unlawful or abusive content), disrupt live classes, or interfere with the Platform's operation. We may suspend or terminate accounts for serious or repeated breaches; where we do so for breach, fees for the current period are not refunded.

8. Our content and trademarks

All Platform content — including videos, curricula, quizzes and branding — is protected by copyright and other laws of England and international treaties. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive licence to use it for your own learning during your access period. The College's names and logos may not be used without written permission. Pearson, Microsoft, CompTIA, AWS, IELTS and other third-party marks belong to their owners; Sterling Learn is an independent preparation provider and does not claim affiliation except where an official partnership is expressly stated.

9. Changes, availability and live classes

We may update course content, improve lessons, and change teachers, class times or tutors, including merging or rescheduling live classes where necessary. If we permanently withdraw a course you have paid for before your access period ends, we will offer a comparable alternative or a proportionate refund. We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee the Platform will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Subject to that, our total liability arising from your use of the Platform is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for events beyond our reasonable control (including failures of third-party services such as payment, video or courseware providers).

11. Certificates and study outcomes

Course completion certificates record your progress on the Platform. They are not government-accredited qualifications unless expressly stated, and passing a preparation course does not guarantee success in any external examination (the Exam Pass Pledge, where offered, is provided by Pearson under Pearson's own terms, as described on the relevant course page).

12. Complaints, law and changes to these terms

Complaints: email admin@sterlingcollegelondon.com — we aim to respond within 5 business days. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers resident elsewhere in the UK may rely on their local courts and mandatory consumer protections. We may update these terms; material changes will be notified on the Platform, and continued use after notice constitutes acceptance. The version in force at the time of your purchase governs that purchase.
